WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT YOURSELF

The statistics are clear. In recent years, and especially due to the prevailing economic hardship, the number of burglaries has increased. And this increase may not be rapid in "number", but if it is related to the progress that technology has recorded in home security systems, which have become more accessible to the general public, one can understand that, instead of more secure , we end up feeling more scared and vulnerable than in the past.

Security measures at a first level are more or less known. Here are a few:

- We install an automatic door closing mechanism at the main entrance of the apartment building.
- We lock the main door/s of the apartment with a security lock.
- We always lock when we leave, even if we are only going to be gone for a few minutes.
- We never leave the main entrance open with props.
- We install an intercom with a visual image to identify our guests.
- We never open the door without making sure we know the visitor.
- We avoid giving the keys to our house to third persons whom we do not trust.
- When we move, we always change the locks and keys to the new house.
- We do not leave second keys to our house, under pots or mats.
- We never leave large sums of money or valuables at home.
- We do not disclose the assets we have in our home to those around us.
- We must also always keep in mind that garages and storage areas are a target.
- If there is financial possibility, to install an alarm system, in a visible place.
